2024-25 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 3

September 24, 2024

Our weekly fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em series features your best bets at the skill positions and players you should avoid. We also include our start of the week for the player who is guaranteed to produce that week.

Below is our week 3 edition and as per usual I picked these players based on the Half-PPR scoring system. Be sure to check out our fantasy football section for fantasy football advice and much more!

Quarterbacks

Start ‘Em

Brock Purdy (@ LAR) – It wasn’t a pretty game for Purdy last Sunday in Minnesota. He was sacked 6 times but was still able to put up 331 total yards in the loss. Purdy will be without Deebo Samuel for a least a couple of weeks which hurts but the matchup is juicy this week.

The Rams are struggling on defense and were just lit up by Kyler Murray last week who made it look easy. Expect Purdy to lean on Brandon Aiyuk as well. More on that below.

Sit ‘Em

Trevor Lawrence (vs. DEN) – Unfortunately, it’s been another slow start to the season for Lawrence. The Jaguars offense as a whole has been struggling and their struggles will continue Monday night in Buffalo. The one bright spot for the Jags is Brian Thomas Jr. who looks to already be their best wide receiver.

Running Backs

Start ‘Em

Zach Charbonnet (vs MIA) – As of now, it looks like Kenneth Walker’s status is in doubt for week 3. That means it will be the Zach Charbonnet show for the Seahawks vs. Miami on Sunday.

The Dolphins have been poor against running backs this season and have given up an average of 25.4 fantasy points per game. With Tua sidelined, Miami will struggle on offense which means more opportunities for Charbonnet.

Sit ‘Em

Aaron Jones (vs. HOU) – Jones had a strong start to the season finishing as RB8 in week 1. That did not continue in week 2 as Jones not only fumbled but was outplayed by Ty Chandler who racked up 82 rushing yards. Next up the Vikings will play the Texans who have shut down the running game in their first 2 games. Expect that to continue this week.

Wide Receivers

Start ‘Em

Brandon Aiyuk (@ LAR) – If you’ve been patient with Brandon Aiyuk and kept him on your bench, now is the time to start him. Aiyuk and the 49ers have a plus matchup as mentioned above and with Samuel out he should hog a majority of the targets. This could be the week Aiyuk finally goes off.

Sit ‘Em

Jaylen Waddle (@ SEA) – It’s safe to downgrade Waddle this week against Seattle. In fact, you should downgrade most of the Dolphins offense outside of Tyreek Hill. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson will have his hands full with the 12th man and this could be a long day for Miami in general.

Tight Ends

Start ‘Em

Kyle Pitts (vs. KC) – Could this be the Kyle Pitts breakout game? Pitts has been quiet so far this season, even with finding the endzone in week 1. Up next, he gets to face the Chiefs defense who have struggled to stop the tight end position. Kansas City couldn’t stop Isaiah Likely in week 1 and last week gave up 91 yards to Mike Gesicki. Pitts is a must-start this week.

Sit ‘Em

Evan Engram (@ BUF) – Engram missed last week with a hamstring injury and could miss Monday night’s game in Buffalo. Even if healthy I would sit him given the tough matchup. Don’t give up on Engram yet but wait a few more weeks.

Start of the Week

Brian Robinson Jr. (@ CIN) – Brian Robinson is thriving in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. He finished last week with a career high 133 rushing yards on 17 carries against the Giants . Robinson has looked more explosive this year and is breaking tackles left and right.

He will flourish again on Monday night against the Bengals. I would also start Austin Ekeler who is looking like his old self and just took home the Angry Run of the week.
