Grammy-nominated singer Jordin Sparks has returned with her new album, No Restrictions.
The 15-track set was preceded by the lead single “Call My Name” and the Michael Jackson-sampled “Remember.” The album includes guest appearances from T-Pain, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, and Stonebwoy.
On No Restrictions, Sparks doesn’t hold back as she explores different genres, including hip-hop soul (“Forever” featuring T-Pain), quiet storm (“No Restrictions”), Afrobeats (“No Cry” featuring Stonebwoy), acoustic soul (“What Are We Doing?” featuring Shawn Stockman) and dance-pop (“More Than Enough”). No matter the backdrop, Sparks’ golden-toned vocals shine through.
“I have been working on this album for many moons, creating it and fine-tuning every song until it was 100 percent me,” says Sparks. “A lot of beautiful joy and intention went into creating this art. I am so excited it is finally out and ready for the world to experience who I am now!”
Sparks launched her No Restrictions era in October 2023 with the soaring “Call My Name.” She described the track as “an ode to a love so full, so effortless and pure—there’s a peace and contentment within it.”
“Call My Name” became Sparks’ first entry on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in over a decade. The song debuted at No. 29 on the chart dated Nov. 4, 2023.
In August, she returned with “Remember,” which samples Michael Jackon‘s “Remember The Time.”
Regarding “Remember,” Sparks stated, “I’ve always been mesmerized by Michael Jackson’s music. To blend his legendary sound with my own is a dream come true. This track has an irresistible groove – those 808s will make you feel it deep in your bones and get you moving from the first beat! Thank you, Michael, for the incredible music.”
No Restrictions is the follow-up to Sparks’ 2015 album, Right Here, Right Now. The latter album was executive produced by Salaam Remi and featured collaborations with 2 Chainz, Shaggy, Elijah Blake, B.o.B., and J-Doe.
