The New York Giants are sporting a record of 2-5 and struggling to find a consistent level of success this season.
That has become an annual tradition with Daniel Jones starting at quarterback.
Former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi is not high on Jones as a franchise QB, but he did give the former first-round pick some praise for his toughness.
“I’m not in love with Daniel Jones as a player. … He’s tougher than hell,” Lombardi said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Jones hasn’t had the best group of skill position players around him during his time in New York.
Aside from Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley and rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, there haven’t been many top-tier weapons for Jones to utilize.
That is part of the reason he and the offense have struggled to find success.
After all, the Giants are just 24-41-1 in the games Jones has started and have reached the playoffs just once in his five prior seasons.
But as Lombardi said, Jones deserves some credit for hanging tough behind a suspect offensive line and with a less-than-average skill position group.
His mobility has always been one of his strengths.
He does have almost 2,100 career rushing yards, one of the stats he can be most proud of.
But in the end, the ceiling of this Giants team simply isn’t high enough to allow them to contend for a championship right now.
