Muni Long teamed up with Amazon Music for its City Sessions segment in Los Angeles in August as part of her Revenge promotional cycle.
As part of further promoting the album, and showing off her vocals, the R&B sensation shares a live performance version of “Ruined Me.”
Wearing a figure-hugging black outfit, Long delivered a heart-touching rendition of the growing hit from Revenge amidst an intimate setting surrounded by flameless candles.
“Revenge” is the third single from Long’s sophomore album, Revenge, which was released on Aug. 30 under Def Jam Recordings. The song, produced by Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, recently went to No. 8 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Long has now landed five top 10s on this chart. Her previous hit, “Make Your Forget,” is currently at No. 7 after reaching the top spot.
Gitelman praised Long in an interview with Rated R&B and exclusively shared how he managed to get “Ruined Me” included in the already completed Revenge album.
“We were working on a whole other record for somebody else one night. This was after her album [Revenge] was done, and it was going to mixing,” Gitelman recalled.
“I played her this beat and she wrote [‘Ruined Me’] right there. She’s like, ‘If we could get the stems over, this could actually be on the album, even though my album is literally done, and they’re all going to look at me crazy, but this needs to be on the album.’”
Gitelman continued, “I wasn’t even going to come through that night. I came to work on something completely different, and we did that. She knocked it out. Those things, you just don’t plan. I know that she was in her feels. She wanted to get some shit off her chest, so I just provided the soundtrack.”
As stated above, Revenge came out in late August. The 14-track album consists of the songs mentioned above plus the platinum-selling “Made For Me.” The set includes a feature from rapper GloRilla.
“I’m claiming I’ve made the R&B album of the year, so that’s what we want everybody to think or feel,” Long told Rated R&B of Revenge in a summer interview.
Long isn’t just promoting his album; she is also appearing on other projects. The Grammy winner joined genre-bending artist Toosii for his latest album, JADED, on the song “I Do.”
The song, which was produced by Gitelman, The Monsters & Strangerz, and Kevin Theodore, was the most added song this week at urban radio, with 46 adds.
Further, Long is featured on “Don’t Deserve” from GloRilla’s new album, Glorious.
