Amerie is returning to music, announcing on social media that she is recording new tracks with renowned producer Troy Taylor.

On Friday (Nov. 8), the two shared a collaborative post on Instagram featuring a video of them jamming to an unreleased song titled “Undeniable.”

With Taylor’s encouragement, Amerie shared insights about their collaboration, stating they have at least 27 ideas scratched. However, the song mentioned is “the official first record” they have completed.

“This record is called ‘Undeniable’ and it’s just the very beginning,” said Amerie. After giving fans a sneak peek with a rewind of the track, she informed them that “we just wrote it and just recorded it.”

She added, “That didn’t even take a long time actually.” She also noted it was instantaneous for the other ideas but confirming they had too many to find a starting line.

“We have so many ideas because we didn’t even know where to start. We just had to just start because Troy has so much great music and he actually made so much music just for me,” Amerie expressed.

Taylor beamed with excitement as Amerie spoke, saying he had a library of tracks ready, made just for her.

“I’m a huge Amerie fan, seriously,” Taylor shared. “So, making sure she sounds still current without sounding dated, but just sounding classic. She don’t got to do nothing but sound like Amerie. For real.”

The next day (Nov. 9), Taylor and Amerie are seen back in the studio, enhancing the song with layered vocals.

“Having an amazing time creating this music. Working with legends like @troytaylorttu makes it a joy,” Amerie captioned for a post of her singing into a mic, with Trey Songz’s Ready album displayed above.

Included in that collaborative post, Taylor wrote, “Working with Amerie is amazing because she is invested in every note, tone, expression, harmonies and adlibs that comes out. She locks in and is dedicated til the end of the song.”

It’s unclear when Amerie will release “Undeniable” but she did confirm in that first video that a new album would arrive in 2025.

Amerie has appeared at festivals like the Roots Picnic this year but has kept a low profile in music. Instead, she has focused on other projects, such as writing and running an online book club.

In March 2023, she released her debut picture book, You Will Do Great Things, illustrated by Raissa Figueroa.

Amerie said about the book, “You Will Do Great Things is about the hopes and dreams we hold for our children, about the love and power they carry within them that is passed through generations, as well as the idea that, whether they be on large or small scales, children can and will accomplish great things.”

Back in 2018, Amerie issued two surprise EPS: 4AM Mulholland and After 4AM.

That following year, a music video for “Curious,” a song from the former project, was released shortly thereafter.

Amerie’s last full-length album, In Love & War, came out in 2009.

In recent years, Taylor has worked as a songwriter and producer for various artists, including Queen Naija, Tink, Inayah, and Chris Brown.

Taylor contributed to Chris Brown‘s album 11:11 (Deluxe), which earned three Grammy nominations in 2025, including Best R&B Album.

Among Taylor’s contributions to 11:11 (Deluxe) are “Sex So Good,” “My Slime,” and “Angel Numbers/Ten Toes.”

The latter track, which opens the standard edition, was co-produced by Taylor with support from Hitmaka, Roccstar, Haze, and Gabriel Roland.

Brown’s official video for “Angel Numbers/Ten Toes,” directed by Jamar Harding, has over 79 million views on YouTube and the song has garnered over 243 million streams on Spotify.

Of Brown’s nominations, Taylor wrote on Instagram, “Congrats @chrisbrownofficial for your 3 #Grammy2025 nominations you really did an amazing job on this project 11:11 and I am not only proud to have 3 songs but to have the title track is a complete honor.”
