Despite their unbeaten run stretching back to Christmas 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in an unusual position heading into Week 11.

The Buffalo Bills are favored by two points in this crucial AFC showdown, a fact that has raised eyebrows across the NFL landscape.

What makes this particularly intriguing is Patrick Mahomes’ remarkable track record as an underdog – the three-time Super Bowl champion has emerged victorious in 11 of his 14 starts when not favored to win.

NFL analyst Nick Wright addressed this paradox on his show “What’s Wright? With Nick Wright,” predicting a 27-23 Chiefs victory.

“It is just an absurdity to go against Mahomes in this spot,” Wright emphasized.

He then highlighted a fascinating pattern:

“And here is the really remarkable thing about this, this will be the fifth time Mahomes And the Chiefs have been underdogs since they last lost a game. They last lost a game on Christmas Day. They were underdogs in the divisional round against Buffalo, in the AFC Championship game against Baltimore, in the Super Bowl against the Niners, then a few weeks ago, against the Niners. And now, against Buffalo. So, they don’t lose. But a third of the time Vegas thinks they will all take the Chiefs.”

The betting dynamics become even more compelling when considering the broader context.

While bettors are leaning toward Buffalo, citing superior statistics and the game’s heightened significance for the Bills, several factors could swing the momentum in Kansas City’s direction.

The Chiefs’ emotional high following their Denver victory, coupled with Buffalo’s potential offensive challenges, has prompted Wright to revise his initial prediction in favor of Kansas City.

The matchup’s complexity deepens when considering key personnel issues.

The uncertainty surrounding Bills’ tight end Dalton Kincaid’s availability and the Chiefs’ ongoing left tackle concerns add layers of intrigue to an already compelling contest.

While Wright acknowledges Buffalo’s strengths as a formidable opponent, he ultimately sees Mahomes and the Chiefs maintaining their winning ways in this high-stakes encounter.
