This marks Carey’s second extension of her Vegas residency. The initial stint of shows began April 12 and continued through April 27.
Due to overwhelming demand, Carey added more dates. The second leg kicks off July 31 and concludes Aug. 10.
The Celebration of Mimi is Mariah Carey’s fourth Las Vegas residency. She previously headlined Live at the Pearl (2009), Number 1 to Infinity (2015-2017), and The Butterfly Returns (2018-2020).
Carey’s The Celebration of Mimi coincides with the anniversary of her pivotal 10th album, The Emancipation of Mimi, which was released in April 2005. The album included Carey’s Grammy-winning smash hit “We Belong Together,” which she co-wrote with Jermaine Dupri, Johntá Austin, and Manuel Seal.
The festive queen celebrated the 25th anniversary of her seventh album, Rainbow, in June by releasing an expanded edition of the set.
The deluxe album includes 14 bonus tracks, including “Rainbow’s End,” an upbeat expansion of “Rainbow (Interlude)” from the original LP.
“When the Rainbow album was first released, the title track was a dream-like interlude that I felt was a hopeful ending to an emotional roller-coaster ride,” Carey wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I always hoped that one day I would get to find my rainbow’s end… I’m not sure if I have, but with #Rainbow25, I tried!”
Rainbow: 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition also included new remixes, live recordings, acapella tracks, and the rarity “There For Me.”
A month earlier, Carey joined singer-songwriter Muni Long on her “Made For Me (Remix),” which was also produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Jordan XL.
“When I got the call from JD to work on the ‘Made For Me’ remix, I said yes immediately,” stated Carey. “Muni is an amazing writer and performer, and this collaboration is a match made in heaven!”
In February, Carey teamed up with pop sensation Ariana Grande on her “yes, and? (remix).”
